But if you, like Grammy® winner Mandisa Hundley, are a bit too chicken to join in the icy fun and want to help (while staying warm and dry), you can.
The idea behind the Ice Bucket Challenge is you either donate $100 or have a bucket of ice water dumped over your head. Do-gooders often opt for both and then call out someone else to get in on the good-natured and charitable fun.
If you are not too keen on dripping in bone-chilling liquid, though, you’re not alone.
On Twitter, Mandisa admitted that she had been challenged, but elected not to get wet. “I’m warm and dry but donating,” she said, adding a link to the ALS website.
According to the organization, as of Thursday, August 21, it has received $41.8 million in donations compared to $2.1 million during the same time period last year (July 29 to August 21). The donations of existing donors and 739,275 new donors to The Association accounts for the huge jump in financial support.
