Maya Angelou

Legendary author, poet, and civil rights activist, Dr. Maya Angelou has passed, but her legacy still lives on. As one of the most eloquent speakers and writers of her time, she blessed “The Yolanda Adams Morning Show” in this classic exclusive interview with thoughts and words from her heart.

Although Maya Angelou had seen the nation at its worst, she remained proud to call herself American. “My heart is happy,” Angelou said. I’ve been blessed by being a member of a great nation.”

Maya Angelou talked more about how far America had come, especially when it came to voting rights. She spoke to us right before the 2011 elections, and expressed how proud she was to vote the first Black president of the United States of America into office. Listen to the audio player to hear her discuss how much she respected President Barack Obama for all he overcame and achieved.

In addition, listen to Angelou talk about how much she loved Yolanda Adams  and her work. Not only was Angelou one of the most intelligent and well-spoken woman our nation witnessed, she was also lighthearted and witty. Listen to her tell Yolanda how she loved to play her music loud so everyone in her house could hear!
