Remains Found are of County Woman
The Brown County Coroner confirms that the Remains found in rural Brown County have been identified as those of 26-year-old Kate McGrayvel who went missing in 2010.
The Indiana Graduate was reported missing after camping in the woods not far from her family’s Brown County home in April 2010.
Mushroom hunters found her remains on a remote hillside behind the family’s home on April 11.
New Meijer Store Proposed for 16th and MLK
Residents of a near-west side neighborhood are fighting a plan for a superstore that would mean bulldozing their homes.
A developer is considering building a Meijer store on a vacant piece of land owned by the city near 16th Street and Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Drive.
But the retail chain would have to buy 35 homes to seal with the deal with the city.
The Flanner Neighborhood is made up of homes built in the 1950s as part of a cooperative that helped African-Americans who could not get conventional mortgages at the time.
Heroin Usage Skyrockets in Indianapolis
IMPD says that heroin use has skyrocketed in central Indiana.
Officers said one reason for in the increase in usage could be because prescription medications have become harder to find.
A 3-year study said Indianapolis Emergency Medical personnel treated more than 8,000 people for drug overdoses and drug poisoning.
In the past five years, doctors at Methodist Hospital have also seen the number of drug-addicted babies double.
Toddler Killed in Crash
A toddler was killed in a crash Wednesday night when a van slammed into the car he was riding in along a Henry County intersection, police said.
It happened in Henry County just after 6:30 p.m. on County Road 100.
Christopher Clark told police he stopped before continuing through the intersection, with his two children onboard. The driver of the van, 47 year old Rolanda Boggs told police that by the time she saw Clark’s car, she didn’t have time to stop. 2 year old Carson Clark was killed in that crash.
Police did not immediately say if Boggs would face any charges.
Muncie Ivy Tech on Alert after Threat
Ivy Tech in Muncie was evacuated yesterday evening after a threat on campus.
The school posted an alert on its Facebook page just after 5 p.m. after a vague threat of violence made to the Muncie and Marion campuses.
Police searched both campuses Thursday evening. The all-clear was given in both locations.
Car Collides with Apartment Building, Driver Flees Scene
New from overnight, a Noblesville apartment building had to be evacuated after a driver crashed a vehicle into its side.
When firefighters arrived to the Noble Manor Apartments, the vehicle was gone, The building’s brick siding was damaged and a water leak was reported. Residents were also evactuated.
Investigators asked anyone with information about the crash or a description of the vehicle to call Noblesville Police at 317-776-6371.
