Afternoons with Amos and PraiseIndy.com first revealed the pay raises late last month. The raises ranged from 6% to 22% and in dollar amount up to $22,000. City-County Council Vice-President Brian Mahern appeared live with Amos and talked about the outrage over the unconscionable pay hikes. Mahern also talked about the looming battle of the city/county’s 2013 budget. Mahern says the budget deficit could reach $60 million and questions why these pay hikes were approved when city-county employees have gone without pay raises for several years and other departments of city/county government are cutting budgets.
